Abstract
This specification covers the general requirements for carbon steel wire rods and uncoated coarse round wire in coils or straightened and cut lengths. Chemical compositions are specified by ranges or limits for carbon and other elements. The grades commonly specified for carbon steel wire rods and coarse round wire are presented. Grain size, when specified, and the mechanical properties enumerated in individual specifications shall be determined in accordance with reference test materials.
Scope
1.1 This specification covers general requirements for carbon steel wire rods and uncoated coarse round wire in coils or straightened and cut lengths.
1.2 In case of conflict, the requirements in the purchase order, on the drawing, in the individual specification, and in this general specification shall prevail in the sequence named.
Note 1—This metric specification is equivalent to Specification A 510, and is compatible in technical content.
1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
