ISO 20474-10:2008 specifies safety requirements specific to trenchers, including ride-on and pedestrian-controlled machines. It is intended for use with ISO 20474-1, which provides general safety requirements for earth-moving machine families, and ISO/TS 20474-14, which provides information on mandatory national and regional provisions. The standard addresses significant hazards during commissioning, operation, and maintenance, including restraint bars, operator stations, roll-over protective structures, seats, controls, stability, braking, lighting, warning devices, retrieval and transportation, noise measurement, verification, and information for use.
Application Scope: Applies to the design, manufacture, safety verification, operation, and maintenance of trenchers as defined in ISO 6165, including wheeled and crawler trenchers and pedestrian-controlled machines. It does not apply to machines manufactured before December 15, 2008.
