ISO 20022-3:2013 defines a scalable, methodical modeling workflow for creating and maintaining standardized financial industry messages. It complements ISO 20022-1 and ISO 20022-2 by specifying the activities, inputs, outputs, constraints, and guidelines required to develop BusinessTransactions and MessageSets consistently.
The standard covers four modeling levels: Scope, Conceptual, Logical, and Physical. It addresses business context and process definition, business and message models, MessageSets and MessageDefinitions, MessageComponentTypes, data types, traceability, inheritance, normalization, constraints, naming conventions, and syntax scheme creation. It also includes normative UML diagrams and guidance for maintaining interoperable, technology-independent message models.
This first edition cancels and replaces ISO/TS 20022-3:2004 and is intended for financial institutions, standards developers, business analysts, system architects, and professionals implementing or maintaining ISO 20022 messaging solutions.
Application Scope: Financial services message modeling, ISO 20022 implementation, business process analysis, message definition design, financial data interoperability, and standards development.
