ISO 4548-6:2012 specifies a static burst pressure test for full-flow lubricating oil filters used in internal combustion engines. The method evaluates the filter's ability to withstand a specified static pressure, determines its ultimate burst pressure, and records the associated failure mode.
The standard defines requirements for the test rig, test liquid, filter preparation, pressure application, leak and distortion checks, pressure relief, and examination after failure. It also specifies the information to include in the test report, such as filter identification, test conditions, pressure objective, tightening torque, burst pressure, and failure location.
This document does not apply to filters used in aeronautical applications or to plastic components.
