ISO 4548-7:2012 specifies a method for testing the constructional integrity of full-flow lubricating oil filters under engine or installation vibrations. The method applies primarily to spin-on filters and detachable filters with disposable elements having a maximum flow rate of 100 L/min. It covers the test principle, test rig, test liquid, vibration fatigue procedure, resonant frequency evaluation, pressure conditions, vibration cycles, filter orientations, and test reporting requirements.
The standard is intended for filter assemblies tested under pressure and provides procedures for evaluating resistance to vibration-induced failure, including inspection and documentation of failure modes, cycle counts, vibration amplitude and frequency, test pressure, and installation and removal torque.
Application Scope: Testing and qualification of full-flow lubricating oil filters, filter assemblies, filter manufacturers, engine manufacturers, automotive component laboratories, and quality assurance organizations.
