TAPPI T 558 om-10 provides a detailed automated procedure for measuring liquid contact angle, droplet volume, and changes in wettability or absorption over time on paper, paperboard, polymer films, coated surfaces, and other sheeted materials. The method covers equipment requirements, calibration, specimen preparation, conditioning, reagent and test liquid selection, Procedures A and B, image capture and analysis, calculations, reporting, precision, bias, and interpretation of results. It supports evaluations related to printing, writing, coating, sizing, gluing, adhesion, barrier performance, adsorption, and liquid sorption.
