This 48-page presentation from the online workshop held June 3–5, 2025, explains the development and planned structure of the second-generation Eurocodes, with a focus on EN 1990-1 for the design of new structures and EN 1990-2 for the assessment of existing structures. It covers enhanced ease of use, structural reliability, robustness, sustainability, ultimate and serviceability limit states, fatigue verification, geotechnical alignment with EN 1997, and new applications for towers, masts, silos, tanks, crane-supporting structures, and coastal structures. Design examples illustrate revised verification procedures, including static equilibrium, partial factors, serviceability criteria, and foundation movement limits.
Application Scope: Structural and geotechnical engineers, Eurocode users, bridge and building designers, code authorities, educators, and professionals assessing or designing new and existing structures.
