Transportable gas cylinders — Battery vehicles and multiple-element gas containers (MEGCs) — Design, manufacture, identification and testing

This standard specifies requirements for designing, manufacturing, identifying, inspecting, and testing battery vehicles and multiple-element gas containers used for transporting industrial gases.

BS EN 13807:2026 specifies requirements for the design, manufacture, identification, type approval, inspection, and testing of battery vehicles and multiple-element gas containers (MEGCs) containing cylinders, tubes, or bundles of cylinders connected by a manifold. It covers units containing compressed gases, liquefied gases, gas mixtures, and dissolved acetylene. The standard includes requirements for mounting, pressure receptacles, valves, fittings, manifolds, manufacturing controls, marking, documentation, initial inspection, and testing. It also provides specific requirements for dissolved acetylene battery vehicles and recommendations for evaluating manifold excitation frequencies. The standard supersedes EN 13807:2017 and does not apply to units containing pressure drums or tanks, toxic gases with an LC50 value of 200 ml/m3 or less, vehicle chassis, or motive units.

Application Scope: Intended primarily for manufacturers, designers, inspectors, operators, and conformity assessment organizations working with battery vehicles and MEGCs for industrial gases, including compressed gases, liquefied gases, gas mixtures, hydrogen service, and dissolved acetylene.
