BS EN 12666-1:2026 specifies definitions, requirements, and test methods for solid-wall polyethylene (PE) pipes, fittings, joints, and complete piping systems intended for non-pressure underground drains and sewers. It covers applications for wastewater and surface water, including systems installed outside buildings and systems installed both outside and within building structures using application area codes U and UD. The standard addresses materials, appearance, color, dimensions, mechanical and physical characteristics, performance requirements, sealing rings, marking, joint types, and the use of PE recyclates. It applies to elastomeric ring seal, butt fusion, electrofusion, and mechanical joints, and supports the selection of pipe and fitting sizes, stiffness classes, tolerance classes, and colors for buried piping systems.
