This British Standard is the UK implementation of EN 13445-1:2026 and supersedes BS EN 13445-1:2021, which is withdrawn. It defines the terms, definitions, quantities, symbols, and units used throughout the EN 13445 series and provides general information on the design and manufacture of unfired pressure vessels. The standard applies primarily to vessels with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar gauge and includes guidance on scope, normative references, risk assessment, interdependency of the series parts, essential safety requirements, and the relationship with Directive 2014/68/EU. The 2026 edition updates normative references and informative annexes, adds coverage of titanium and titanium alloy pressure vessels in the essential safety requirements, and includes editorial corrections.

Application Scope: Suitable for engineers, manufacturers, inspectors, designers, conformity assessment personnel, and organizations involved in the design, fabrication, inspection, testing, operation, or regulatory assessment of unfired pressure vessels covered by the EN 13445 series.
