A doctoral thesis on the physical mechanisms and modeling of compacted polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sintering.
This doctoral thesis examines the sintering of compacted polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), with emphasis on physical mechanisms, microstructural evolution, crystallization, void closure, and thermomechanical behavior.
It presents experimental methods including differential scanning calorimetry, dilatometry, X-ray diffraction, microtomography, scanning electron microscopy, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, digital image correlation, and infrared thermography. The work also develops thermal and finite element models to simulate PTFE sintering and material response.
Application Scope: Polymer materials research, PTFE component manufacturing, sintering process development, thermomechanical modeling, and finite element simulation.
