UNE 36-032-85 specifies non-alloy carbon steels used to manufacture low-strength fasteners, including bolts, screws, and studs, by cold heading or cold extrusion. It covers steel supplied in coils or hot-rolled bars with diameters from 2 mm to 100 mm, including requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, cold heading performance, surface quality, manufacturing, supply conditions, inspection, testing, dimensions, and tolerances.
The standard defines effervescent steels, silicon-killed steels, and aluminum-killed steels, along with symbolic and numerical designations. It also provides requirements for tensile testing, upsetting tests, sampling, chemical analysis, inspection units, and surface defect evaluation.
Application Scope: Used by steel producers, fastener manufacturers, purchasers, inspectors, and engineers specifying carbon steel products for cold-formed fasteners manufactured without quenching and tempering.
