UNE 36-084-79 specifies the requirements for hot-rolled steel products used in shipbuilding, including Naval A through Naval E grades with a tensile strength of 400/490 N/mm². It covers steelmaking, deoxidation, delivery condition, surface condition, chemical composition, mechanical and technological properties, weldability, inspection procedures, testing methods, acceptance criteria, dimensional tolerances, product identification, and required documentation. The standard applies primarily to products less than 50 mm thick intended for ship hulls and other ship structures, including materials subject to classification society certification.
