What is BS 1743-4-Determination of the dispersibility and the wetting time of instant dried milk about?
BS 1743 is a British standard on the methods for the analysis of dried milk and dried milk products that discusses the determination of the dispersibility and the wetting time of instant dried milk to improve powder wetting and produce a stable, finely distributed mixture.
BS 1743-4 is the fourth part of the BS 1743 series in which section 2 specifies a method for the determination of the dispersibility in the water of instant dried milk. A provisional recommendation for the interpretation of dispersibility results is given.
Section 3 specifies a method, for routine use, for the determination of the wetting time in water of instant dried milk.
Both methods are applicable to instant dried skimmed milk manufactured either by the “straight-through” or by the “re-wet” process and to instant dried partly skimmed milk and instant dried whole milk.
Who is BS 1743-4-Determination of the dispersibility and the wetting time of instant dried milk for?
BS 1743-4 on the determination of the dispersibility and the wetting time of instant dried milk is useful for:
- Dried milk and dried milk products manufacturers
- Food scientists
- Food technologists
- Food laboratories
- Food health and safety departments
Why should you use BS 1743-4-Determination of the dispersibility and the wetting time of instant dried milk?
Dispersibility is the percentage by mass of the dry matter of the sample that can be distributed uniformly in water, as determined by the procedure specified.
Wetting time is the time, in seconds, that elapses between placing the sample on the surface of the water and all the sample becoming wetted, i.e., either sinking below the surface or assuming a typical “wet” appearance without sinking, as determined by the procedure specified.
BS 1743-4 provides you with guidance on apparatus, the determination of the dispersibility of instant dried milk the procedure for the preparation of the test sample, the determination of water content of the test sample, determination of the wetting time of instant dried milk, calculation of the results, test report, replication, and precision, etc.
The methods and procedures provided by BS 1743-4 assist you in the determination of the dispersibility and the wetting time of instant dried milk, improving the wettability and minimum dispersibility of instant dried milk and ensuring to enhance the quality of instant dried milk.
With obedience and compliance to BS 1743-4, you can enhance instant dried milk’s effectiveness and efficacy, create new products, and launch them successfully in a global market.
