What is BS 3146-2 - Investment castings in metal about?
BS 3146-2 provides a set of guidelines for the specifications for investment castings in metals, corrosion, and heat-resisting steels, nickel, and cobalt-base alloys.
BS 3146-2 specifies requirements for investment castings in corrosion and heat-resisting steels and nickel and cobalt-base alloys, complying with the general requirements of this section.
BS 3146-2 which has been prepared under the authority of the Iron and Steel and the Non-ferrous Metals Industry Standards Committees, has been revised to meet the needs of industry in the rapidly growing field of investment castings.
NOTE 1: The terms are generally applied to alloys not subjected to precipitation treatment.
NOTE 2: A “softening” treatment is sometimes applied to alloys that are suitable for precipitation treatment to eliminate the effect of cold work. This treatment may affect an incomplete solution of the precipitated phase(s).
Who is BS 3146-2- Investment castings in metal for?
BS 3146-2 on Investment castings in metal is useful for:
- Mechanical engineers
- Oil industries
- Iron and steel industry
- Mining and metallurgy industry
- Motor vehicle industry
Why should you use BS 3146-2- Investment castings in metal?
The advantage of investment castings is the complexity of the shapes that can be cast. Moreover, the accurate approach to the final form can be obtained without a large amount of machining which may be difficult.
BS 3146-2 standard will help the engineers, iron-steel, and oil industry manufacturers to produce defect-free products for the clients.
The heat treatment in BS 3146-2 gives a soft, ductile product and is normally associated with the recrystallization of the material.
BS 3146-2 guidelines will help the engineers to use proper metal castings in industries.
