What is BS 341-2 - Valves with taper stem for use with breathing apparatus about?
BS 341 is a standard that discusses valve fittings for compressed gas cylinders. BS 341-2 is the second part of the multi-part series that outlines the:
- Material and dimensions of valve fittings for compressed gas cylinders used for breathing apparatus other than for medical purposes.
- Dimensions of valving capsules
- An appendix containing recommendations for inspection gauges for the taper threads on the valve stems and in the necks of gas cylinders
For manufacturing valves with taper stems that are efficient and durable.
Who is BS 341-2 - Valves with taper stem for use with breathing apparatus for?
BS 341-2 on valves with taper stem for use with breathing apparatus is useful for:
- Valves with taper stem manufacturers
- Test centres or any person involved in the testing of valves
- Design engineers
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use BS 341-2 - Valves with taper stem for use with breathing apparatus?
A cylinder valve can refer to an intel or exhaust valve in a piston engine or compressor. A valve is to control the flow of gas into or out of a storage cylinder. The cylinder valves are the most vulnerable part of the compressed gas package and require a thorough understanding to maximize their performance.
BS 341-2 guides you regarding the materials required for manufacturing valve bodies, test samples for mechanical tests, tensile tests and impact tests.
BS 341-2 also guides you regarding screw threads on valve stems, screw threads in cylinder necks, valve outlets, connectors, testing and marking of valves, and valving capsules for proper manufacturing of valves that are durable, efficient and of high quality.
With obedience and compliance to BS 341-2, you can manufacture standardized valves with taper stems that have global acceptance in the market.
