What is BS 3531-5.3 - Specification for the dimensions of bone screws about?
BS 3531 is a standard on the implants for osteosynthesis that discusses bone screws and auxiliary equipment. BS 3531-5.3 outlines the dimensions and tolerances for metal bone screws used in surgery, having hexagonal drive connection, spherical under-surface of the head, and shallow and deep asymmetrical threads.
Who is BS 3531-5.3 - Specification for the dimensions of bone screws for?
BS 3531-5.3 on the specification for the dimensions of bone screws is useful for:
- Manufacturers of bone screws and auxiliary equipment
- Test centres or any person involved in the testing of bone screws
- Design engineers
Why should you use BS 3531-5.3 - Specification for the dimensions of bone screws?
A bone screw is a metal implant inserted into the bone. Screws are used to immobilize fractured bone segments to aid in the healing process and as an adjunct to fusion surgery to help hold implants in place.
BS 3531-5.3 assists you with dimensions and tolerances of the screw with the shallow thread (HA), screw with deep thread (HB) to manufacture efficient quality and durable screws having hexagonal drive connection, spherical under-surfaces, and asymmetrical thread.
BS 3531-5.3 also guides regarding code for screw thread, marking, and packaging of screws having hexagonal drive connection, spherical under-surfaces, and asymmetrical thread.
With obedience and compliance to BS 3531-5.3, you can enhance and standardize screws having hexagonal drive connection, spherical under-surfaces, and asymmetrical thread.
