What is BS 3531-5.4 - Screws having symmetrical and asymmetrical thread and conical under-surfaces about?
BS 3531 is a standard on implants for osteosynthesis that discusses bone screws and auxiliary equipment. BS 3531-5.4 outlines the dimensions and tolerances of metal bone screws with conical under-surface of the head used in surgery.
BS 3531 lays down requirements for surgical bone screws.
Note: It is necessary to bear in mind that there may be a need for bone screws for applications, that are not covered by this Standard or by ISO 5835.
Who is BS 3531-5.4 - Screws having symmetrical and asymmetrical thread and conical under-surfaces for?
BS 3531-5.4 on screws having symmetrical and asymmetrical thread and conical under-surfaces is useful for:
- Manufacturers of bone screws and auxiliary equipment
- Test centres and any person involved in the testing oF bone screws
- Regulatory authorities
- Design engineers
Why should you use BS 3531-5.4 - Screws having symmetrical and asymmetrical thread and conical under-surfaces?
A bone screw is a metal implant inserted into the bone. Screws are used to immobilize fractured bone segments to aid in the healing process and as an adjunct to fusion surgery to hold implants in place.
BS 3531-5.4 assists you with the dimensions and tolerances of screws with single-slot drive connection, screw with cruciate recess, screwhead with combined cruciate-slot and cross-recessed drive connection, illustration of HC thread form, screw with cross-recessed head, screws with asymmetrical thread from HD, and cross-recessed drive connections to manufacture bone screws that are of high quality and durability.
BS 3531-5.4 also guides you with marking and packaging of bone screws and auxiliary equipment for osteosynthesis implants.
With obedience and compliance to BS 3531-5.4, you can enhance the efficacy of screws having symmetrical and asymmetrical thread and conical under-surfaces and manufacture a standardized product having global acceptance in the market.
