What is BS 3TA 28 – Titanium aluminium vanadium alloy for aerospace application about?
Heat resistant steels are extensively used for high temperature components, and they cover a broad range of applications. The properties of steel and its yield strength considerably decrease as the steel absorbs heat when exposed to high temperatures.
BS 3TA 28 is part of the series of EN metallic material standards for aerospace applications. The general organization of this series is described in EN 4258.
BS 3TA 28 specifies the requirements for titanium-aluminium‑vanadium alloy forging stock and wire with a tensile strength of 1100 MPa to 1300 Mpa for aerospace applications.
Who is BS 3TA 28 - Titanium aluminium vanadium alloy for aerospace application for?
BS 3TA 28 on Titanium aluminium vanadium alloy for aerospace application is useful for:
- The aerospace and defence industry
- Manufacturers of aerospace equipment and components
- Vendors / Manufacturers and suppliers of titanium aluminium vanadium alloy for aerospace
- Purchase divisions/component sourcing personnel
- Product design engineers
- Aeronautical engineers
Why should you use BS 3TA 28 - Titanium aluminium vanadium alloy for aerospace application?
There are many considerations to make when creating parts for aerospace applications, such as the shape, weight, and durability of a part. These factors can all affect the aircraft’s flight worthiness. When designing the interiors or exterior of vessels such as airplanes, spaceships, submarines, etc., structural decisions are based on function. There are some specific applications where aerospace grade stainless steel may surpass aluminum in performance. For years, the go-to material for aerospace applications was aluminum. However, in recent years, aerospace manufacturers have started investigating alternatives to aluminum, one of them being aerospace grade hear resistant alloy of nickel.
BS 3TA 28 provides you with requisites and standards for titanium aluminium vanadium alloys for aerospace application so that the products are suitable for the required purpose.
The guidelines in BS 3TA 28 contribute towards including high-quality components for aerospace that are responsible for the smooth and safe functioning of vessels.
