What is BS 4215-15 - Insulated pins for use in electrode back-ups about?
BS 4215 is a British Standard series that discusses resistance spot welding electrodes, electrode holders, and ancillary equipment. The main objective of the BS 4215 series is to provide best industry guidance on resistance spot welding equipment to ensure they are fit for the intended end-use application.
BS 4215-15 is the 15th part of the BS 4215 series that specifies the requirements for insulated pins used to pin parts in the secondary circuit of resistance welding equipment, or other live equipment, which need to be insulated from each other.
Note: Typical application of insulated pins complying with BS 4215-15 is given in BS EN 25827:1992.
Who is BS 4215-15 - Insulated pins for use in electrode back-ups for?
BS 4215-15 on insulated pins for use in electrode back-ups is useful for:
- Insulated pin manufacturers
- Resistance welding equipment manufacturers
- Welders and fabricators
- Mechanical engineers
- Construction, automotive and aerospace industry
Why should you use BS 4215-15 - Insulated pins for use in electrode back-ups?
Resistance welding is a method of joining metals by applying pressure and passing a high electric current through the metal combination, which heats up the welding joint and melts the metals together, forging them together.
BS 4215-15 provides best industry requirements of dimensions, material and finish as well as the designation for insulated pins for use in electrode back-ups used in resistance spot welding.
If you are a manufacturer, BS 4215-15 can ensure your insulated pins for use in resistance welding equipment perform as intended and provide the required level of electrical insulation, such that they play a positive role in the overall success of welding processes.
