What is BS 4341:Addendum No. 1- Formic acid about?
This addendum to BS 4341 has been prepared to provide a method for the determination of iron content of formic acid for industrial use.
It is technically identical to ISO Recommendation R 1707, Formic acid for industrial use. Determination of iron content. 2,2½-Bipyridyl photometric method.
Who is BS 4341:Addendum No. 1- Formic acid for?
BS 4341:Addendum No. 1 on method for the determination of iron content of formic acid for industrial use is useful for:
- Chemical manufacturers
- Chemical engineers
- Testing laboratories
Why should you use BS 4341:Addendum No. 1- Formic acid?
The principle of the method is the conversion of any iron present into the sulphate by evaporation to dryness in the presence of sulphuric acid, reduction of trivalent iron by means of hydroxylammonium chloride, formation of a bivalent iron 2,2½-bipyridyl complex and photometric measurement of the coloured complex at about 520 nm.
BS 4341:Addendum No. 1 provides you with the reagents and apparatus required for the procedure. BS 4341:Addendum No. 1 guides you with the procedure of determination of iron
content of formic acid for industrial use.
