What is BS 4542 - Lynch Method for finding of loss tangent and permittivity about?
BS 4542 describes the Lynch method for the determination of the loss tangent and the permittivity of insulating materials at frequencies of 1 kHz to 100 kHz at normal room temperatures.
BS 4542 gives details of the apparatus and of the procedure to be followed. The frequency range can be extended downward to 50 Hz unless the surface resistivity of the specimen is low (e.g. 1010 7). It can be extended upward to 1 MHz by taking the precautions suggested in BS 4542.
Who is BS 4542 - Lynch Method for finding of loss tangent and permittivity for?
BS 4542 on electrical insulating material in sheer form is useful for:
- Electrical engineer
- Manufacturer of winding wire
- Manufacturer of transformers
- Manufacturer of heavy electrical equipment
- Manufacturer of electrical appliances
- Power Distribution companies
Why should you use BS 4542 - Lynch Method for finding of loss tangent and permittivity?
Large electrical systems are required to be efficient. If not, there can be loss of signal and thus malfuction. To avoid this malfuction from happening BS 4542 provides us best practice guidelines to check for loss tangents and permittivity.
BS 4542 provides the principle behind lynch method. Accuracy and range of the method is also provided in BS 4542.
Use of BS 4542 can improve efficiency of the electrical circuit and help one with selection.
