What is BS 4656-10 - Drilling machines of radial type about?
BS 4656 is a British standard that discusses the specifications for the accuracy of machine tools and methods of tests. BS 4656-10 is the tenth part of the multi-part series that outlines both geometrical and practical tests for drilling machines of the radial type and gives corresponding permissible deviations.
BS 4656-10 applies to machines of general-purpose use and normal accuracy. BS 4656-10 deals only with the verification of the accuracy of the machine.
Note: BS 4656-10 does not apply to the testing of the running of the machine (vibrations, abnormal noises, the stick-slip motion of components, etc.), nor to its characteristics (speeds, feeds, etc.) which should generally be checked before testing accuracy.
Who is BS 4656-10 - Drilling machines of radial type for?
BS 4656-10 on Drilling machines of radial type is useful for:
- Radial drilling machine manufacturers
- Design engineers
Why should you use BS 4656-10 - Drilling machines of radial type?
A radial drilling machine is a drilling machine with the drill spindle in a tool head and saddle that are moveable along a projecting arm which itself can be rotated about a vertical column.
BS 4656-10 assists you regarding the application of test methods for testing the accuracy of testing equipment.
With obedience and compliance to BS 4656-10, you can properly evaluate the efficiency of drilling machines of radial type.
