What is BS 5072-3- Fluorine content in the sodium fluoride about?
BS 5072 discusses the methods of testing for sodium fluoride for industrial use. BS 5072-3 is the third part of the BS 5072 multi-series and discusses the determination of fluorine content.
BS 5072-3 specifies a modified Willard-Winter method for the determination of fluorine content of sodium fluoride for industrial use by titration with thorium nitrate solution.
Who is BS 5072-3- Fluorine content in the sodium fluoride for?
BS 5072-3 on determining the fluoride content in sodium fluoride for industrial use is useful for:
- Chemical manufacturers
- Testing laboratories
- Chemical engineers
Why should you use BS 5072-3 - Fluorine content in the sodium fluoride?
The fluorine is separated from a test portion by distillation with sulphuric acid. The distillate is titrated with thorium nitrate solution, using as an indicator either sodium alizarinsulphonate, with or without methylene blue as a masking agent, or methylthymol blue as an indicator.
BS 5072-3 provides you with reagents and apparatus required for the determination procedure. BS 5072-3 guides you with the procedure and calculation. BS 5072-3 helps you determine the fluoride content in sodium fluoride for industrial use.
