What is BS 5131-3.4 - Edgewise testing of footwear material about?
BS 5131-3.4 is an international standard that focuses on best practices for testing for footwear and footwear material. It gives testing methods for edgewise compressibility of footwear and upper materials.
BS 5131-3.4 describes a method for measuring the extent to which upper materials will shorten or compress in an edgewise direction without forming pleats or wrinkles. This ability to accept compression is one of the factors that determines how cleanly the toe of the upper can last.
BS 5131-3.4 is applicable to all upper materials but is most useful when comparing materials of the same basic type.
Who is BS 5131-3.4 - Edgewise testing of footwear material for?
BS 5131-3.4 on testing methods for edgewise compressibility of footwear and upper materials is useful for:
- Footwear manufacturing companies
- Footwear design engineers
- Retailers of footwear
- Testing laboratories
- Regulatory authorities
- Product development teams
Why should you use BS 5131-3.4 - Edgewise testing of footwear material?
