What is BS 5272-Simultaneous determination of the water contents of a batch of dried milk samples about?
BS 5272 is a British standard on the method for simultaneous routine determination of the water contents of a batch of dried milk samples to calculate the effect of water on the flavour, quality, and shelf life of dried milk.
BS 5272 specifies a routine method for the determination of the water content of dried milk when single determinations are made on each of not more than 16 samples tested concurrently by the same operator.
Who is BS 5272- Simultaneous determination of the water contents of a batch of dried milk samples for?
BS 5272 on simultaneous determination of the water contents of a batch of dried milk samples is useful for:
- Dried milk manufacturers
- Food scientists
- Food technologists
- Food laboratories
- Food health and safety departments
Why should you use BS 5272-Simultaneous determination of the water contents of a batch of dried milk samples?
Water content is defined as the loss in mass obtained by the procedure described. Water content is expressed as a percentage by mass. Milk powder is hydroscopic in nature and typically contains 4-5% water content. Excess amounts of water content can lead to the lumping of milk powder.
BS 5272 provides you with guidance on the apparatus, laboratory samples, procedures, expression of results, test report, etc.
The methods and procedures provided by BS 5272 assist you in the simultaneous determination of the water contents of a batch of dried milk samples, improving the quality and subsistence of dried milk and enhancing the flavour and shelf-life of dried milk.
With obedience and compliance to BS 5272, you can enhance dried milk’s effectiveness and efficacy, create new products, and launch them successfully in a global market.
