What is BS 5551-2.5 - Reduction of samples of solid fertilizers about?
BS 5551-2.5 is a standard that covers the reduction of samples of solid fertilizers that provides contamination-free samples for accurate analysis.
BS 5551-2.5 specifies a method suitable for the reduction of a sample of a solid fertilizer to a smaller quantity, such as may be used for analysis or for further reduction after suitable comminution.
By choosing suitable equipment, the BS 5551-2.5 method is applicable to the reduction of a sample of any mass above a minimum defined by the size and number of particles.
The BS 5551-2.5 method can be applied to the division of samples into a number of equally representative sub-samples.
Note 1: BS 5551-2.5 does not include information on the methods of obtaining the original sample.
Note 2: Other reduction devices and methods are described in Annex A, but they are not as accurate as the recommended procedure.
Who is BS 5551-2.5 - Reduction of samples of solid fertilizers for?
BS 5551-2.5 on the reduction of samples of solid fertilizers applies to:
- Manufacturers of solid fertilizers
- Dealers and importers of fertilizers
- Testing labs for fertilizers
- Quality assurance services
Why should you use BS 5551-2.5 - Reduction of samples of solid fertilizers?
Sample reduction is crushing, splitting and screening of samples after drying them. Sample reduction is used to create sub-samples that are contamination-free and can be used for accurate analysis.
BS 5551-2.5 provides users guidance on a method for the reduction of samples of solid fertilizers. BS 5551-2.5 also provides users with a step-by-step procedure for the method, enabling users to do the method correctly.
BS 5551-2.5 provides users guidance on principle, apparatus, precautions, further reduction, sample division, and alternative methods, enabling cost-effectiveness and accurate analysis of solid fertilizers.
With obedience and compliance to BS 5551-2.5, users can implement sample reduction techniques for further analysis and testing of physical and chemical aspects, ensuring stability, potency and fertility in agricultural applications.
