What is BS 5551-2.7 - Minimum mass of increment of solid fertilizers about?
BS 5551-2.7 is a standard that covers the minimum mass of increment of solid fertilizers, enabling minimum error of representativity in sampling.
BS 5551-2.7 specifies the extent of mass reduction beyond which the error in the representativity of the increment can no longer be ignored.
BS 5551-2.7 can also be used to establish the minimum mass of any intermediate increment during the treatment of the sample, up to analysis. Where partial sampling devices are used, this limiting mass can be much more important
Who is BS 5551-2.7 - Minimum mass of increment of solid fertilizers for?
BS 5551-2.7 on the minimum mass of increment of solid fertilizers applies to:
- Manufacturers of fertilizers
- Dealers and importers of fertilizers
- Testing houses and labs for fertilizers
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use BS 5551-2.7 - Minimum mass of increment of solid fertilizers?
When sampling is carried out on a batch of fertilizer, an increment is taken from N units. Each of these increments may be taken either by means of partial sampling devices if their validity (absence of any particular bias) is assured, or by treating the complete item with a suitable reduction device (absence of bias).
BS 5551-2.7 provides users guidance on fertilizers composed of particles of the same nature and different nature, enabling accurate sampling for physical and chemical analysis of solid fertilizers.
BS 5551-2.7 provides users guidance on general comments on the reduction of samples and selection of the mass of the smallest increment in the case of the grouping of the increments, enabling error reduction in the sampling of fertilizers.
With obedience and compliance to BS 5551-2.7, users can minimize the error of representativity in sampling, ensuring accuracy in the analysis and testing of solid fertilizers.
