What is BS 5561 - Spools for copper wire about?
The wire is packaged into specially designed and reinforced spools that protect the wire in transport and storage. Every spool is evenly wound with proper tension and pitch to minimize any difficulty in the payoff.
BS 5561 establishes a basis for the standardization of spools used for winding bare drawn copper wire for further internal processing by the manufacturer or for supply to customers for off-winding by established methods including ballooning over the flange.
BS 5561 specifies the dimensional requirements for reception spools for bare copper wire drawn and wound at elevated speeds and suitable for batch annealing where required. BS 5561 includes recommendations for tolerances, bore profiling and driving mechanism.
Who is BS 5561 - Spools for copper wire for?
BS 5561 on spools for copper wire is useful for:
- Wiredrawing machinery makers
- Manufacturers and suppliers of spools
- The logistics and transportation industry
- Goods packaging products manufacturers
- Goods packaging and distribution industries
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS 5561 - Spools for copper wire?
All wires are parallel wound flange-to-flange under controlled tension on plastic shipping spools. A nominal wind tension is sufficient to maintain wind integrity during shipment and storage. The combination of shipping spool, spool-cover along with a proper packaging and handling procedure, help you to protect the wire during shipping and handling.
BS 5561 provides you with all the requirements, dimensions and tolerance specifications for the spool used for copper wire packaging. Following specifications in BS 5561, lets you manufacture and supply high-quality spools of copper wire to your customers for packaging wires.
BS 5561 gives recommendations for materials used for constructing spools, filling of spools, wrapping and labelling of spools. BS 5561 guidelines help you to protect copper wires with standard quality spools during shipping and handling.
