What is BS 5658 - Gold potassium cyanide for electroplating about?
BS 5658 is a British Standard that provides requirements and methods of test for gold potassium cyanide for use in electroplating.
BS 5658 specifies requirements for gold potassium cyanide for use in electroplating and allied solutions, e.g. those used in autocatalytic or immersion processes.
The objective of BS 5658 is to provide best industry guidance on gold potassium cyanide for electroplating to ensure it provides adequate corrosion protection of the metal substrates.
Who is BS 5658 - Gold potassium cyanide for electroplating for?
BS 5658 on gold potassium cyanide for electroplating is useful for:
- Manufacturers of metallic coatings
- Manufacturers of machines and equipment
- Electroplating industry
- Product design engineers
- Mechanical and chemical engineers
- Industries including but not limited to aerospace, food manufacturing, medical, military and defence
- Local and national authorities
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use BS 5658 - Gold potassium cyanide for electroplating?
The guidance in BS 5658 provides guidance on composition, permitted impurity levels, containers and marking, and sampling requirements for gold potassium cyanide for use in electroplating and allied solutions.
BS 5658 also covers test methods for the determination of gold content, turbidity, impurities and insoluble matter. As a result, you can demonstrate whether or not your materials for electroplating are fit for purpose and offer the required surface protection when applied to substrates.
Compliance with the best industry requirements and test methods outlined in BS 5658 can ultimately ensure the gold potassium cyanide used for electroplating can enhance and optimize the service life and durability of the end-product.
