Why should you use BS 585-1 - Wood stairs with closed risers?
Closed risers are the most common style of the stair, and they're mostly seen in older, more traditional homes. Each step has a gap that is closed by a riser between each tread.
BS 585-1 specifies site fixing of stairs that will help you to fix stairs with straight flights that begin at the top of the stairs and winder flights of the stairs. BS 585-1 also specifies the design of stairs with winder flights to meet the lines of all the risers at one point, i.e., the geometric centre.
Overall, BS 585-1 will help you to fix and construct the lines of all the wood stairs with closed risers. Also, assists you with the stairs with winder flights, the inclusion of plywood treads and the increase in the minimum size of strings and newels for stairs to meet at one point.
