What is BS 5857-1.5 - Transit time method about?
BS 5857-1.5 is an International Standard that discusses the fluid flow in closed conduits, using tracers.
BS 5857-1.5 specifies the transit time method using radioactive tracers for the measurement of water flow rate in closed conduits. BS 5857-1.5 helps in the selection of tracers.
Who is BS 5857-1.5 - Transit time method for?
BS 5857-1.5 on transit time method is useful for:
- Manufacturers and designers of flowmeters, transducers, and flow transmitters
- Testing laboratories
- Water resource engineers
- Hydrologists
- Quality control and testing authorities
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use BS 5857-1.5 - Transit time method?
Flow-rate measurement by the transit time method (formerly called “Allen velocity method”) is based on measuring the transit time of “labelled” fluid particles between two cross-sections of the conduit a known distance apart.
BS 5857-1.5 is the seventh part of a series of standards covering tracer methods of water flow measurement in closed conduits. BS 5857-1.5 assists with the general requirements of tracer for the transit time method and helps in making a better choice of measuring length. BS 5857-1.5 provides you with the guidelines for the various test methods and their procedures. BS 5857-1.5 helps you in calculating the transit time and guides you in estimating the separation and dispersion of recorded traces.
By adopting, BS 5857-1.5 you can learn about the methods for measurement of fluid flow in closed conduits, using tracers which can help you understand the methods of hydraulic measurements.
