What is BS 593- Laboratory thermometers about?
BS 593 is an international standard that discusses the aspects of good quality laboratory thermometers.
BS 593 specifies requirements for series A, B, and F laboratory thermometers calibrated either for total or for partial immersion, covering the overall temperature ranges – 30 °C to + 400 °C and – 23 °F to + 320 °F.
BS 593 describes the thermometers that are of the mercury-in-glass, solid-stem type filled with dry inert gas at a suitable pressure.
Who is BS 593- Laboratory thermometers for?
BS 593 on laboratory thermometers is relevant to:
- Manufacturers and designers of laboratory thermometers
- Thermal engineers
- Scientists and researchers
- Laboratories
- Quality control personnel
- Testing authorities
Why should you use BS 593- Laboratory thermometers?
Laboratory thermometers are devices used to measure temperature.
BS 593 describes thermometers that are graduated in accordance with the Celsius scale as defined in the current definition of the International Practical Temperature Scale adopted by the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM).
BS 593 specifies the requirements for the laboratory thermometers that are in compliance with international standards. BS 593 covers the bulb of the thermometer made of a thermometric glass approved by the National Physical Laboratory that is suitable for a wide range of temperatures.
BS 593 also assists with the permanent and legibly markings on the thermometer. BS 593 describes the testing of thermometers as well as the stabilization test for the thermometers.
Overall, BS 593 is useful as it specifies the laboratory thermometers that can be beneficial for your business and can also help you to expand your business globally.
