What is BS 6001-1 – Sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection about?
BS 6001-1 is the first part of the multi-series international standard that focuses on sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection. BS 6001-1 specifies an acceptance sampling system for inspection by attributes. It is indexed in terms of the acceptance quality limit (AQL).
Who is BS 6001-1 - Sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection for?
BS 6001-1 on sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection is useful for:
- Internal and external auditors
- Procurement departments
- Quality control unit
- Manufacturing units
Why should you use BS 6001-1 - Sampling schemes indexed by acceptance quality limit (AQL) for lot-by-lot inspection?
Sampling inspection plans are designed to protect the interest of the producer and consumer. This is accomplished by specifying quality levels and the associated risks of acceptance and rejection.
BS 6001-1 provides you with a technique to determine the acceptance or rejection of a lot or population based on several defective parts found in a random sample drawn from the lot. If the number of defective items does not exceed a predefined level, the lot is accepted, otherwise, it is rejected.
The aim of BS 6001-1 is to induce a supplier through the economic and psychological pressure of lot non-acceptance to maintain a process average at least as good as the specified acceptance quality limit, while at the same time providing an upper limit for the risk to the consumer of accepting the occasional poor lot.
