What is BS 6043-4.5- Water content of unbaked pastes used in aluminium manufacture about?
BS 6043 discusses carbonaceous materials used in aluminium manufacture. BS 6043-4.5 belongs to the BS 6043 multi-series and discusses the determination of water content of unbaked pastes.
BS 6043-4.5 describes an azeotropic distillation method for the determination of the water content of unbaked cold ramming pastes used in aluminium manufacture.
The method is applicable to cold ramming pastes made with coal tar or bituminous binders, having water contents in the range 0.1 % to 2 % (m/m).
Note: The method is not applicable to cold ramming pastes made with resin-based binders, e.g., phenol-formaldehyde or foam types.
Who is BS 6043-4.5- Water content of unbaked pastes used in aluminium manufacture for?
BS 6043-4.5 on the determination of water content of unbaked pastes used in aluminium manufacture is useful for:
- Aluminium manufactures
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS 6043-4.5-Water content of unbaked pastes used in aluminium manufacture?
The binders used in cold ramming pastes may be coal tar or bituminous in character or may alternatively comprise one or more resins. Certain types of resins evolve in water because of the polymerization process. BS 6043-4.5 guides you in the determination of the water content of unbaked pastes used in aluminium manufacture.
BS 6043-4.5 guides you with the reagents, apparatus and sampling required for the test procedure. BS 6043-4.5 also provides guidance with the preparation of the test sample. BS 6043-4.5 guides you with the test procedure and calculation of results. BS 6043-4.5 helps you manufacture high-quality aluminium.
