Adopting specifications in compliance with BS 6173 can help catering establishments improve monitoring and equipment testing systems.

Who is BS 6173 - Installation and maintenance of gas-fired catering appliances for?
BS 6173 on gas-fired catering appliances is relevant to:
- Installers of typical domestic cookers or leisure appliances such as barbecues
- Companies that work on the installation and ventilation of the kitchen equipment and appliances
- Kitchen interior designers,
- Fire safety and protection departments
Why should you use BS 6173 - Installation and maintenance of gas-fired catering appliances?
BS 6173 should be adopted because since 2009, some catering establishments have been closed unnecessarily due to equipment failing tests that were not of themselves accurate. By implementing the methodology within BS 6173 these establishments would now not be closed due to the improved accuracy of the newly cited test procedures.
It’s therefore important that test houses purchase BS 6173 to implement these changes in monitoring and equipment testing as it will enable more commercial kitchens to remain open.
Along with continuity improvements from the use of current appliances, there will be financial savings for catering establishments all over the UK who use these testing systems.
