What is BS 6913-15 – mechanical pullers and pushers specification about?
Earthmoving equipment is heavy equipment, typically heavy-duty vehicles designed for construction operations that involve earthworks. BS 6913 is an International Standard series that discusses the operation and maintenance of earth-moving machinery.
BS 6913-15 specifies for guidance the types, general requirements and main nominal dimensions of mechanical pullers, attachments and adaptors used for carrying out repair work.
BS 6913-15 includes mechanical pullers and push pullers, pulling attachments and adaptors which are commonly used for pulling gears and bearings mounted on the types of earth-moving machinery defined in BS EN ISO 6165.
Who is BS 6913-15 - mechanical pullers and pushers specification for?
BS 6913-15 on mechanical pullers and pushers specification is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of mechanical pullers
- Product design engineers
- Mechanical engineers
- Owners and operators of earth-moving machinery
- Contractors
- Project managers
- Maintenance crews
- Quality control and testing personnel
Why should you use BS 6913-15 - mechanical pullers and pushers specification?
Pullers are used for the maintenance of earth-moving machinery to remove shaft-fitted parts (bearings or couplings).
As per BS 6913-15 guidelines, machine manufacturers should consider:
- The usage of these pullers and pushers for carrying out repair work
- Choosing dimensions for machine design from BS 6913-15 guidelines
- Specifying, in suitable manuals as described in BS EN ISO 6750, the type of tools to be used for carrying out repair work
Details on using the pullers for specific repair work have been elaborated in BS 6913-15 using diagrams and tables.
BS 6913-6 helps you to select suitable pullers for maintenance of earth-moving machinery, ensuring that projects proceed smoothly and without delays.
