What is BS 6913-6 – electrical circuits of earth-moving machinery about?
Earthmoving equipment is heavy equipment, typically heavy-duty vehicles designed for construction operations that involve earthworks. BS 6913 is an International Standard series that discusses the operation and maintenance of earth-moving machinery.
BS 6913-6 is the sixth part of the multi-series, and specifies the fundamental items of an identification code system and marking for electrical wires and cables used to connect components in the electrical circuits of earth-moving machines.
Note: BS 6913-6 does not cover the wires and cables located within electrical components, e.g., alternator (a.c. generator), and relay instrument.
BS 6913-6 applies to earth-moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165.
Who is BS 6913-6 - electrical circuits of earth-moving machinery for?
BS 6913-6 on electrical circuits of earth-moving machinery is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of earthmoving machinery
- Product design engineers
- Mechanical engineers
- Owners and operators of earthmoving machinery
- Contractors
- Project managers
- Maintenance crews
- Quality control and testing personnel
Why should you use BS 6913-6 - electrical circuits of earth-moving machinery?
Suitable methods of identifying wires and cables within earth moving machinery facilitate smooth maintenance of the machines.
BS 6913-6 provides guidance on a coding system of electrical wires and cables, marking of electrical circuits, and/or functional groups.
BS 6913-6 guides you with identification numbering, identification colour, identification durability, as well as identification location for wires and cables on earth moving machinery. BS 6913-6 also guides you with ensuring legibility of markings.
BS 6913-6 helps you to stay organised and efficient during the maintenance of earthmoving equipment, ensuring that projects proceed smoothly and without delays.
