What is BS 714 - Cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits about?
BS 714 is a European standard that outlines the fuse-links suitable for use in railway-signalling circuits in which the declared voltage does not exceed 250 volts between conductors or between conductor and earth.
BS 714 lays down standard current ratings and standard dimensions, BS 714 deals with manufacturing requirements, end caps, marking, performance, and the type tests required.
Who is BS 714 - Cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits for?
BS 714 on cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits is useful for:
- Manufacturers of cartridge fuse-links
- Test centres or any person involved in the testing of cartridge fuse-links
- Regulatory authorities
- Design engineers
Why should you use BS 714 - Cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits?
The cartridge is an enclosing fuse-element container consisting of insulating material, tubular in form, and having its ends enclosed by metallic caps. cartridge fuse-link, (hereinafter called a fuse) a cartridge containing a fuse element.
The cartridge fuse is the weak link in an electrical circuit. If there is a short fault anywhere in the circuit, or the circuit is overloaded, the metal strip, or link, heats up and quickly melts, opening the circuit and shutting off the power.
BS 714 guides you regarding standard current ratings, dimensions, end caps, manufacture and marking of cartridge fuse-links. This assists in manufacturing highly durable and high-quality cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits.,
BS 714 also provides you with the type tests and acceptance tests that assist in evaluating and improving the performance of cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits. With obedience and compliance to BS 714, you can enhance the efficacy of your cartridge fuse-links for use in railway signalling circuits.
