What is BS 734-1 - Specification for hydrometers about?
BS 734-1 is an International Standard that discusses the technical specifications for hydrometers for use in milk.
BS 734-1 specifies requirements for glass hydrometers of constant mass, for use in milk having a surface tension of approximately 45 mN/m, which indicates density in grams per millilitre.
BS 734-1 specifies two sizes of hydrometer, with two scale ranges for each size. The larger hydrometers, designated No. 1, and No. 1A to distinguish between the scale ranges, correspond to the precision types. The smaller hydrometers, designated No. 2, and No. 2A to distinguish between the scale ranges, are more robust instruments intended to permit the density of smaller samples to be determined.
Who is BS 734-1 - Specification for hydrometers for?
BS 734-1 on the specification for hydrometers is useful for:
- Manufacturers of glass milk hydrometers
- Laboratories
- Dairy industries
- Testing authorities
- Regulatory authorities
- Quality assurance personnel
Why should you use BS 734-1 - Specification for hydrometers?
A milk hydrometer is an instrument that is used to check for the purity of milk by measuring its density. BS 734-1 discusses the scale ranges, subdivision of scales and tolerances that provide a user-friendly idea of glass milk hydrometers.
BS 734-1 specifies the materials, construction and principal dimensions to verify the performance characteristics of glass milk hydrometers which ensures their reliability.
BS 734-1 provides users with detailed inscriptions that help users manufacture good quality, highly efficient glass milk hydrometers. BS 734-1 can be beneficial for your business and can help you to expand your business of glass milk hydrometers globally.
