What is BS 7416 - Carbon steel tubes in hydraulic fluid power systems about?
BS 7416 is a British standard that specifies requirements for a range of precision finished, plain end, seamless, cold-drawn, low carbon steel tubes suitable for use in hydraulic fluid power systems.
Unless otherwise stated in BS 7416, the tubing shall be cold finished seamless tube (CFS) grade 360 or 430, category 2, complying with BS 3602-1 with the additional requirements and variations specified in clauses 3, 4, and 5.
Who is BS 7416 - Carbon steel tubes in hydraulic fluid power systems for?
BS 7416 on carbon steel tubes in hydraulic fluid power systems is useful for:
- The oil and gas industry
- The chemical industry
- The power plant industry
- The mining industry
- Testing agencies
Why should you use BS 7416 - Carbon steel tubes in hydraulic fluid power systems?
Steel pipe is frequently utilized as a fluid conductor, particularly where large volumes of fluid need to be transferred or when the expense of tubing is a factor. Seamless carbon steel piping is used in the basic hydraulic circuit. Seamless cold-drawn low carbon steel tubes mentioned in BS 7416 have a higher resistance to corrosion, are smoother outside and inside surface, are durable in use, and have better elongation.
BS 7416 provides its users with the general specifications, dimensions and tolerances, surface finish, and leak tightness.
