What is BS 7431 - Elastomeric materials for absorbers, connecting pipes and fittings about?
BS 7431 discusses a method for assessing solar water heaters. The solar water heater is a hot water system that utilizes solar energy (energy from sunlight) to heat water in cost-effective solutions.
BS 7431 specifies a means of assessing elastomeric materials for use in the manufacture of absorbers, connecting piping and fittings for use in solar water heaters.
Who is BS 7431 - Elastomeric materials for absorbers, connecting pipes and fittings for?
BS 7431 on elastomeric materials for absorbers, connecting pipes and fittings is useful for:
- Solar water heater manufacturers
- Design engineers
- Solar water heater component manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use BS 7431 - Elastomeric materials for absorbers, connecting pipes and fittings?
Solar water heating is heating water by sunlight, using a solar thermal collector. The test pieces are as specified in the relevant test method. The test pieces required for the tests specified in BS 7431 should preferably be cut from samples of the finished product. Where this is not practicable test pieces may be cut from sheet material.
If it is required to separate a section of fluid passage from a finished absorber, the test piece is prepared in accordance with ISO 4661-1. Qualification tests as mentioned in BS 7431 consists of the hardness test, compression set at low-temperature test, resistance to ozone test, tear strength, tensile strength, elongation at break and burst pressure test. Using BS 7431 you can specify a means of assessing elastomeric materials for use in the manufacture of absorbers, connecting piping and fittings for use in solar water heaters.
