What is BS 7562-4 - Water resources for irrigation schemes about?
BS 7562-4 is a standard that covers water resources for irrigation schemes, enabling cost-efficiency, prevention of waste and water conservation in irrigation applications.
BS 7562-4 gives guidance and information on water resource requirements.
BS 7562-4 covers the Water Acts, surface and underground water resources and design of source works, public supply and water quality.
Who is BS 7562-4 - Water resources for irrigation schemes for?
BS 7562-4 on water resources for irrigation schemes applies to:
- Irrigation supply departments
- Irrigation engineers
- Irrigation consultants
- Irrigation equipment manufacturers
- Suppliers of irrigation equipment
- Testing houses for irrigation equipment
- Irrigation audit services
Why should you use BS 7562-4 - Water resources for irrigation schemes?
In an irrigation system, water is supplied from a water source. These water sources can include rivers, lakes, reservoirs, as well as groundwater sources.
Water is extracted from a water source to supply an irrigation scheme. Rivers, reservoirs, and lakes, as well as groundwater, are the most prevalent sources of irrigation water.
BS 7562-4 provides users guidance on estimation of water availability, including consultation with NRA, availability of surface water in summer and winter, and safety, enabling the monitoring, inspection and measurement of water bodies for analysis, calculations and estimates.
BS 7562-4 provides users guidance on design aspects of surface flowing and groundwater sources, including flow rate variation, floating debris, water level variation, water velocity, position of pump offtake, flood risk, water level, bank stability, inlet erosion and more, ensuring the suitability of the source for irrigation purposes.
With obedience and compliance to BS 7562-4, users can design and implement irrigation schemes for different water sources to ensure durability, water quality and efficiency in irrigation applications.
