What is BS 7793-1 - Coatings on bolted steel panels in agricultural slurry tanks about?
BS 7793 is a British standard series that discusses vitreous enamel coatings. The main purpose of the BS 7793 series is to provide best industry requirements of vitreous enamel coatings for use on bolted steel panels such that the metal substrates they are applied to are well protected from corrosion and premature deterioration.
BS 7793-1 is the first part of the BS 7793 that specifies requirements for vitreous enamel coatings applied to bolted steel panels for use in the construction of agricultural tanks for storing animal slurry above ground on farms.
BS 7793-1 applies to the vitreous enamelling elements of the manufacturing process. In addition to the definitive requirements, BS 7793-1 also requires the item detailed in clause 4 to be documented. For compliance with BS 7793-1 both the definitive requirements and the documented item have to be satisfied.
Who is BS 7793-1 - Coatings on bolted steel panels in agricultural slurry tanks for?
BS 7793-1 on coatings on bolted steel panels in agricultural slurry tanks is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of vitreous enamel coatings
- Manufacturers of agricultural slurry tanks
- Agricultural facility management
- Quality control personnel
- The agricultural industry
- Local and National bodies
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use BS 7793-1 - Coatings on bolted steel panels in agricultural slurry tanks?
The quality of the vitreous enamel coating is one of the most significant aspects of the manufacture of this type of tank for storage of animal slurry because of the important environmental considerations that exist.
BS 7793-1 provides best industry requirements for the vitreous enamel on test samples along with requirements for finished panels.
Reference standard for tests is also covered in BS 7793-1 to demonstrate the resistance to impact and chemicals and the adhesive behaviour of coatings.
Thus, BS 7793-1 can ensure your coatings on bolted steel panels play a positive role in the performance and durability of agricultural slurry tanks. As a result, you can avoid any potential break in the surface; burn off, crawling or tearing, fish scaling or lamination of enamel coatings. Consequently, you can ensure that the service-life and performance of the slurry tanks remain uncompromised.
