What is BS 7882 - Calibration of torque measuring devices about?
This standard looks at torque calibration and assessment. It specifies requirements for the calibration and classification of torque measuring devices, including those used for calibrating torque tools, and it describes the method of calibration, calculation of calibration results and the classification of the torque measuring device in a static mode.
Who is BS 7882 - Calibration of torque measuring devices for?
Field services engineers, engineers and contractors in oil and gas, rail infrastructure and automobile and aerospace manufacturing.
Why should you use BS 7882 - Calibration of torque measuring devices?
It provides comprehensive information on calibrating and classifying torque measuring devices, including two annexes that provide practical examples and a listing of the information to be given on certificates of calibration.
What’s changed since the last update?
The revision has improved uncertainties of measurement calculations and changed the scope, terms, normative references and other elements to ensure that this BS aligns with:
- BS EN ISO 6789-1 Hand torque tools - Requirements and test methods for design conformance testing, quality conformance testing and recalibration procedure. Part 1: Requirements and test method for design conformance testing, quality conformance testing and calibration procedure
- BS 7996 - Torque measuring devices – Calibration and classification using continual torque application – Method
In particular, BS 7882 has adopted the term: determination of the relative measurement uncertainty interval W’mi as used in Part 2 of BS EN ISO 6789.
