What is BS 952-1 - Glass for Glazing about?
BS 952-1 is a British Standard. BS 952-1 is the 1st part of BS 952 series on glass for glazing. The current version of BS 952-1 is prepared under the direction of the Sector Board for Building and Civil Engineering.
BS 952-1 categorizes a wide range of glass that is used for glazing. BS 952-1 consists of references, scope, and very detailed classification of glasses especially soda lime-silicate glasses. BS 952-1 also contains special composition of glasses.
BS 952-1 classifies glass for use in building into three glass compositions: the commonly used soda lime-silicate glass, borosilicate glass and glass ceramics. Terms and definitions, together with details of nominal thickness, thickness tolerance, mass/unit area and the normally available maximum sizes are given.
Who is BS 952-1 - Glass for Glazing for?
BS 952-1 on glass for glazing is useful for:
- Building Engineers, Constructors, and Architects
- Entities involved in Building Research and Development
- Property and Buildings Directorates
- Flat Glass Manufacturers
- Glass and Glazing Manufacturers
- Glass Technologists
Why should you use BS 952-1 - Glass for Glazing?
Glass for Glazing ensures maximum energy efficiency along with maintaining aesthetics. Glass for Glazing has several benefits like superior insulation, protection from UV rays, better security and decrease in outside noise impact. Glass for Glazing also prevents air leaks and protects the end user from outside particles like dust, smoke, etc.
BS 952-1 classifies glass for use in building into three glass compositions: the commonly used soda lime-silicate glass, borosilicate glass and glass ceramics. BS 952-1 includes Terms and definitions. BS 952-1 also includes details of nominal thickness, thickness tolerance, mass/unit area and the normally available maximum sizes.
Keeping up with new technologies can get confusing that makes standardization important. Compliance with BS 952-1 can help in easier management. BS 952-1 also aids in limiting risk and higher durability and reliability.
