What is BS EN 12759 – Liquid resistance of coated fabrics about?
BS EN 12759 is an international standard that focuses on the fabric determination of resistance to liquids.
BS EN 12759 describes two methods of evaluating the resistance of fabrics coated with plastics or with vulcanized rubber to the action of liquids by measurement of selected properties of the materials before and after immersion in selected liquids.
BS EN 12759 describes the methods that concern the following determinations:
- Method 1: Change of physical properties after immersion in test liquids
- Method 2: Change of physical properties after exposure and evaporation of volatile test liquids
Who is BS EN 12759 – Liquid resistance of coated fabrics for?
BS EN 12759 on liquid resistance of coated fabrics is useful for:
- Manufacturers of coated fabrics
- Product development entities
- Quality control entities
- Textile manufacturer
- Clothing industries
- Textile testing laboratories
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use BS EN 12759 – Liquid resistance of coated fabrics?
Quality of textiles can be coined as the level of acceptance of clothing products or services. For the textile and apparel industry, product quality is checked in terms of finish and class of the fibres, yarns, fabric construction, colour fastness, designs, and the final product. Coated fabrics cater to different needs such as waterproofing in all aspects right from roofs to camping gear.
BS EN 12759 provides a procedure for exposing test specimens to the influence of liquids under defined conditions of temperature and time. Selected properties are determined according to the relevant European or International Standards.
BS EN 12759 recommends you, take safety precautions when preparing and handling test liquids, especially those known to be toxic, corrosive, or flammable.
BS EN 12759 is usually desirable to use the liquid with which the coated fabric will come into contact during use. This helps the users to manufacture high-class, liquid-resistant, and reliable coated fabrics, that can be used for various purposes.
