What is BS EN 12962 - Elastic behaviour of adhesives about?
Many liquids elastomeric adhesives show, depending on the nature of basic elastomer, under specific conditions an elastic behaviour. The elastic behaviour of an adhesive is of great practical significance. It affects both processability of an adhesive and its bonding properties to porous substrates like wood, leather or fabric.
BS EN 12962 specifies a test method to determine the elastic behaviour of an elastomeric mono-component liquid adhesive under specified conditions. This method is particularly suitable for production control.
Who is BS EN 12962 - Elastic behaviour of adhesives for?
BS EN 12962 on elastic behaviour of adhesives is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of adhesives
- The adhesives and sealants industry
- Laboratories for adhesive testing
- Quality control personnel
- Research and development team
Why should you use BS EN 12962 - Elastic behaviour of adhesives?
For achieving optimum bond strength on porous substrates, it is indispensable to adjust both viscosity and elasticity to the porosity of the substrates to be bonded. If the elasticity is too high, the adhesive will rest on the surface of the substrate without penetration and anchoring in the substrate. If the elasticity is too low, the adhesive is absorbed by the porous substrate without being able to form a bond line.
BS EN 12962 guides you with a detailed procedures to test the elasticity of liquid adhesives. This helps you in assuring quality control, improving bond performance, and assessing the relative merits of adhesive options for a given application.
BS EN 12962 guidelines help you to achieve optimum adhesives bond strength by evaluating the elastic behaviour of liquid adhesives.
