What is BS EN 13034-Requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited performance about?
BS EN 13034 is a European standard on protective clothing against liquid chemicals that discusses the performance requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited protective performance against liquid chemicals to ensure protection against chemical hazards. BS EN 13034 specifies the minimum requirements for limited use and re-useable limited performance chemical protective clothing. Limited performance chemical protective clothing is intended for use in cases of a potential exposure to a light spray, liquid aerosols or low pressure, low volume splashes, against which a complete liquid permeation barrier (at the molecular level) is not required.
BS EN 13034 covers both chemical protective suits (Type 6) and partial body protection (Type PB [6]).
BS EN 13034 specifies minimum requirements for the connections between different parts of Type 6 suits using a reduced whole suit spray test using a variant of EN ISO 17491-4.
Who is BS EN 13034-Requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited performance for?
BS EN 13034 on the requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited performance is useful for:
- Chemical protective clothing manufacturers
- Chemical protective clothing test personnel
- Occupational health and safety departments
- Risk assessment authorities
- Quality assurance departments
Why should you use BS EN 13034-Requirements for chemical protective clothing offering limited performance?
Chemical protective suits (Type 6) cover and protect at least the trunk and the limbs, e.g., one-piece coveralls or two-piece suits, with or without hood, boot socks or boot covers. Partial body protection of similar limited performance (Type PB [6]) covers and protects only specific parts of the body, e.g., coats, aprons, sleeves etc.
BS EN 13034 provides you with guidance on performance requirements for materials, seams, joins and assemblages, performance requirements for a whole suit, resistance to penetration by liquids in the form of a light spray (mist test), and marking, etc.
The performance requirements provided by BS EN 13034 assist you in improving the performance and quality of the chemical protective clothing enhancing safety, improving human working conditions, and counteracting adverse effects on human health and performance.
With obedience and compliance to BS EN 13034, you can enhance chemical protective clothing effectiveness and efficacy and manufacture a standardized high-quality product.
