BS EN 13126 is a series on building hardware. Building hardware is a group of metal hardware specifically used for protection, decoration, and convenience in buildings. Building products do not make any part of a building, rather they support them and make them work.
BS EN 13126‑14 specifies requirements and test methods for durability, strength, security, and function of sash fasteners for windows and door height windows.
Who is BS EN 13126‑14 - Requirements and test methods for Sash fasteners for?
BS EN 13126‑14 on the requirements and test methods for sash fasteners is useful for:
- Building hardware manufacturing industries

Why should you use BS EN 13126‑14 - Requirements and test methods for Sash fasteners?
Builders’ hardware is commonly available in brass, steel, aluminium, stainless steel, and iron. Common examples include door handles, door hinges, deadbolts, latches, numerals, letter plates, switch plates, and door knockers. BS EN 13126‑14 defines a sash fastener that is a device to secure, in the closed position, the sashes of a double or single hung vertically sliding window and the sashes of a horizontally sliding window.
Sash fasteners are classified in accordance with the four-box classification system that consists of the durability, mass, corrosion resistance and test sizes. Requirements for a sash fastener consists of dangerous substances, durability, static force tests, wear test, critical deformation test and corrosion resistance test. Using BS EN 13126‑14 you can specify requirements and test methods for durability, strength, security, and function of sash fasteners.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 13126‑14:2022 supersedes BS EN 13126‑14:2012. BS EN 13126‑14:2022 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN 13126‑14:2012. These include:
